I was recently invited to speak on Classic FM Nigeria’s Book Review with Benji, a radio segment dedicated to conversations around books, reading, and storytelling. It was an honour to contribute to a space that celebrates literature and thoughtful engagement with texts.

During the conversation, we discussed the power of storytelling—not just as entertainment, but as a tool for literacy, reflection, and cultural preservation. I spoke about how books shape empathy, strengthen critical thinking, and give readers language for their inner worlds.

As the founder of BuildWithWords Academy, these conversations matter deeply to me. Radio remains one of the most accessible platforms for literacy advocacy, reaching listeners who may not always encounter books through classrooms or libraries.

The conversation with Benji reaffirmed an important truth: when books are talked about openly and enthusiastically, curiosity is sparked. And curiosity is often the first step toward reading.
I’m grateful for platforms like Classic FM that continue to amplify conversations around books, literacy, and the importance of stories in our everyday lives.
